Getting to the finish line – Part I

After the detailed guidance on how to use a PMP Exam Simulator for your preparations let’s now have a look at what to do at the final meters before and also after your exam;

Congratulations on getting this far and preparing so comprehensively for the exam!

You may not feel like you have learned enough to pass the exam but trust us. If you have been using this Roadmap, following the step-by-step approach, and working on the required activities, you are ready.

Now comes the most critical step. You need to take further action to capitalize on this newly acquired and assimilated knowledge.

So, remember:

 Do not delay. You are the most prepped and ready for the PMP  exam as you will ever be.
 Keep the momentum going and get certified. A few more weeks will not make that much difference.

 Be confident. Too often, candidates postpone for “a few weeks” which quickly turn into months or years because work, family, and other commitments and distractions get in the way.

You are now in the best position.

You have worked this hard for many weeks, don’t let it all be for anything.

Take a few moments to think about all the concepts, terms, and best practices that you have learned throughout your preparations. Give some thought to the exam and how you will grow as a Project Management Professional over time.

  • What are the most applicable concepts or techniques that you have learned?
  • What were the most memorable learnings from watching the videos, listening to podcasts, or reading the materials?
  • Which of the exam domains do you feel most confident about? Which ones do you feel the least confident about?
  • What test-taking strategies do you plan to use before and during your exam?

Prior to the exam:

  • Meet with your study buddy (or buddies), if you have one, to reflect on what you have learned up to this point. Not only does it give you a chance to review the study material, but this conversation also highlights collectively how much you and your study buddies have learned.
  • Ensure that all the preparations and paperwork from the previous sections are completed. Confirm there are no open action items. 
  • Review the Pre-Exam Day Checklist in the next lesson and follow the suggestions on planning your remaining time leading up to the big day.
  • Review the Exam Day Checklist and consider what activities you are going to do from there to fit your comfort level.

Feel free to tweak it to your needs from now until exam day, as you see fit.

Now check out the Pre-Exam-Day Checklist in the next lesson ...
